Seven new judges were sworn in today by Her Excellency Christine Carla Kangaloo, President of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces at President’s House.

The new judges are Madame Justice Rehanna Hosein, Madame Justice Hasine Shaikh, S.C, Madame Justice Sabrina Dougdeen-Jaglal, Madame Justice Sherlanne Pierre, Madame Justice Wendy Ali, Justice Nirad Samnadda-Ramrekersingh, and Madame Justice Adia Mohammed.
Only recently, Justice Dougdeen-Jaglal’s husband, Krishna, was sworn in as a Magistrate.
Justice Shaikh was up to recently the head of the Public Defenders Unit. The new judges join 44 others on the High Court Bench; 14 in the Court of Appeal, and 34 Masters.
