The first casualty of police bullets under the new State of Emergency took place on Wednesday afternoon.
Dead is David Boodoo, alias Sours, 36, a man out on bail awaiting trial for murder.
According to reports, around 12.45 pm on Wednesday, officers from a specialized police unit within the TTPS, entered a property along Rampersad Trace, Vega de Oropouche, Sangre Grande, under State of Emergency powers.
During the operation, Boodoo allegedly opened fire on the officers. Police returned fire, and Boodoo was shot during the confrontation.

The injured man was taken to the Sangre Grande Hospital for medical treatment but was pronounced dead on arrival. Police said a firearm was recovered at the scene.
Boodoo was charged in March 2017 for the murder of Donald Javel Pierre, whose remains were exhumed from a gravel pit, at Pine Road, Vega de Oropouche, Sangre Grande, in 2016.
Boodoo was charged with Ricardo James, aka Doodie, with killing Pierre who was reported missing on January 20, 2016. The victim’s body was found buried in a hole 20 feet deep, on February 29, 2016. The results of a post mortem found Pierre died from a gunshot wound.
