Sunday last, Team Sunshine played its geographical rival, Boss Bar, in a 10-table-121 bullseyes match in what was a most remarkable evening in all the best ways. The two teams’ headquarters are on the same street – First Street, Five Rivers.
Boss Bar on the eastern end of the street and Team Sunshine on the western end. On this occasion, the game was not played at Boss Bar’s Five Rivers location, but at its newest branch in First Street, Oropune Gardens, Oropune, Piarco.
Both teams have been playing each other for years with varying results. This time, however, Team Sunshine dominated the encounter from start to finish. The first half ended 50/24 bullseyes, an almost unprecedented result where a team was could not even make half the points of the other; and 21/14 Hang Jacks.
During the halftime break, one of the best ever meals was served – fried rice, lentil peas, chicken or fish and a green salad – for which Boss Bar was highly commended. As is the norm, following the break, the teams assembled their members to discuss strategy before resuming play.
This was of no use to Boss Bar and only served to confirm Team Sunshine’s superiority. The game eventually ended with a massive victory for Team Sunshine in both categories – 101/73 bullseyes and 39/27 Hang Jacks.
Before the prize distribution, Team Sunshine thanked Boss Bar for the convivial spirit in which the game was played and for the unparalleled hospitality that was experienced.
