CAL wants a bailout

Cabinet must confront the stark contradiction of a national airline reportedly seeking a billion dollar bailout while key economic Ministers remain conspicuously silent, this is not governance, this is drift.

At the same time, Tourism cannot expand on rhetoric alone; it depends fundamentally on safety, visibility, and confidence.

If Trinidad and Tobago is to capture diverted tourist flows arising from instability in Europe and the Middle East, then crime suppression must move from policy statements to sustained, visible operations on the ground, targeted, intelligence, led policing that reclaims hotspots, reassures citizens, and signals to the world that the country is safe for business and leisure.

The Minister of Tourism cannot succeed in isolation; this requires coordinated, measurable action from National Security, the Commissioner of Police, and the wider Cabinet, with timelines and accountability.

Without decisive leadership now, we risk losing both our aviation sector and a critical window of tourism opportunity.
