The situation surrounding the Hilton Trinidad & Conference Centre demands immediate, decisive action, this is not just another property, it is a national icon, a global calling card that has anchored Trinidad and Tobago’s tourism identity for over four decades.
To allow it to slip away, as happened with the failed Sandals Resorts International arrangement, would signal not just indecision but a dangerous pattern of missed opportunity and policy paralysis.
The country cannot afford a repeat of the fallout from the collapse of Petrotrin, where delayed action and poor strategic execution led to lasting economic and social consequences.
This is a moment for leadership, not hesitation, strip away the noise, ignore the predictable political grandstanding, and secure this asset with urgency, clarity, and national interest at the forefront.
