Three suspects, believed to be bandits, got the shock of their lives when they pulled in a police station yard to escape the chasing police officers.
Right away, they were arrested and taken into custody. On top of that, the car in which they were travelling, is believed to have been stolen.
Officers of the Central Division Gang Unit conducted an intelligence-led operation in Chaguanas on Tuesday as part of Operation R.E.S.O.L.U.T.E.
During the operation, officers conducted surveillance at a location in the Chaguanas area based on intelligence. Officers observed a black Toyota Prado entering the compound of a gas station. The officers maintained surveillance on the vehicle after it departed.
During the course of the surveillance, officers observed an object being thrown from the rear window of the vehicle. The object was retrieved and found to contain approximately 1,020 grammes of cannabis.
The police officers attempted to intercept the vehicle. The driver failed to stop and continued travelling at a high rate of speed, before eventually entering the compound of the Chaguanas Police Station, along the Chaguanas Main Road.
The vehicle subsequently came to a stop and three occupants, all of El Socorro, were arrested.
The black Toyota Prado, was impounded and secured pending further inquiries. Preliminary checks have also raised concerns regarding the vehicle’s chassis number, which is suspected to have been tampered with.
Investigations are continuing.
The three suspects are being questioned about a series of incidents in the Central area.
