Another woman has been killed violently.
She has been identified as Shannel Lewis, aged 30. Lewis was shot at the back of her head by a lone gunman, while walking along Brooklyn Settlement, Sangre Grande, on Thursday morning.
Lewis, who was dressed in a blue top and black pants, never saw her attacker approaching. After shooting the woman, the man fled the scene.
Persons who heard the shot, investigated and found Lewis lying on her stomach. She appeared dead. The Police were contacted and when they arrived and checked, Lewis was dead.
The District Medical Officer visited the scene and ordered the removal of the body to the Forensic Science Centre for an autopsy. Lewis is the 23rd woman to be violently killed in 2026. Her murder took the toll for the year to 233.
Homicide Bureau officers are still searching for a motive, but persons who knew Lewis said her death could have been as a result of a relationship gone sour.
