A National of the Dominican Republican is nursing an injury after he was injured by an S.W.A.T. Estate Police officer during a $94,000 payroll robbery.
That incident occurred at the North Hills Construction Site, Cutucupano Road, Santa Cruz, last Friday afternoon.
The foreigner, who was armed with a weapon, went to the site with another man with plans to rob an employee carrying $94,000.
Around 2:07 p.m., a S.W.A.T. Estate Constable observed an altercation adjacent to the site’s main access entrance, wherein two armed male assailants were physically assaulting an individual. Upon seeing the S.W.A.T. Estate Police officer, one of the assailants discharged a firearm directly toward him.
Acting in full accordance with S.W.A.T. Estate Police Co. Ltd. standard operating procedures and in response to an imminent threat to human life, the S.W.A.T. Estate Constable discharged his company-issued firearm and returned fire toward the perpetrators. One of the bandits was shot.

The end result?
* Apprehension of Suspect: One suspect was successfully detained through the immediate response of the S.W.A.T. Estate Police officer; the other perpetrator managed to evade initial capture.
* Recovery of Evidence: A revolver, dropped by an assailant during the retreat, was safely recovered and secured on-site by S.W.A.T. Estate Police personnel.
* Loss of Assets: The fleeing suspects absconded with a bag containing the funds designated to pay 70 workers.
THE ROBBERY
Police reported that the Venezuelan employee, aged 51, was robbed of $94,000 at the construction site.
The victim, a payroll clerk with Home Solutions, was approached by two men, both armed with guns, who demanded the workers’ wages.
After handing over the money, the man alerted a security officer on duty, who had a brief shoot-out with one of the men, while the second bandit ran off with the cash, which was to be used to pay about 70 workers.
The suspect, a Dominican Republic national, was subdued with the help of workers before being handed over to police.
Both the suspect and the victim were taken to the Eric Williams Medical Sciences Complex, Mount Hope, for medical attention.
