A male passenger who arrived on a flight from New York last Saturday, was reportedly held with a gun and ammunition inside his luggage.

According to reports, the passenger arrived at the Piarco International Airport aboard Jet Blue Airways Flight B 617 from John F. Kennedy International Airport, New York.

During the course of routine Customs and Excise search, the passenger was found to be in possession of one Ruger firearm, one magazine and 12 rounds of .380 ammunition.

The passenger was formally charged under Sections 212(a) and 213(a) of the Customs Act, Chapter 78:01.

The passenger appeared before a Master of the High Court, on Tuesday. The charges were laid indictably, and he was not called upon to enter a plea. He was remanded into custody and is scheduled to reappear before the court on September 9.
