Prominent Chaguanas attorney, Taradath Singh, was shot dead outside the ASJA School, Caroni Savannah Road, Charlieville, on Tuesday evening.
According to reports, a gunman walked up to Singh as he was about to enter his car and fired two shots.
Singh, 53, a former policeman, died on the scene.
Police responded to the scene, but by that time, the killer had escaped on foot.
Up to news time, there was no motive for the killing.
On September 28, Singh escaped a previous attempt on his life.
Singh came under fire while reversing his vehicle into his Penn Trace, Cunupia, home. Around 7:35 p.m. that day, Singh was reversing his white BMW iX when he saw an individual wearing a blue coverall and cap emerge from bushes opposite his residence.
The assailant pointed a firearm in Singh’s direction, after which several loud explosions were heard.
Singh ran to safety, while the assailant fled the area on foot.
No one was arrested in that incident, but investigators believe that it was family-related. Now that Singh has been killed, Homicide Bureau officers are expected to interview certain persons. Tuesday’s killing was described as a “hit”.
Singh carried on his law firm on Ramsaran Street, Chaguanas.
