6th woman murdered for the year

……Hunt for former lover

By FRANCIS JOSEPH

She went missing from her Diego Martin home. A report was made to the police. Her body was found along with the North Coast Road, Maracas, on April 1.

An autopsy performed on Thursday revealed that she was beaten to death.

Onika Locario has become the sixth woman to be murdered for 2026.

She died as a result of blunt force trauma to the head.

Locario was found on April 1 near an agro shop along the Maracas stretch of the roadway after police responded to reports of a body lying in the area around 10:44 p.m.

She was dressed in a black skirt, brown cardigan and cream-coloured Crocs, with a tattoo on her left forearm. She wasn’t wearing any underwear, police said.

Initial observations at the scene noted that she appeared to be foaming from the mouth and nose, with no immediately visible external injuries at the time. The body was later removed for further examination.

Police believed she was attacked and killed by a man known to her. The attack reportedly took place elsewhere and her body dumped in the Maracas area.

Police say investigations are continuing as they work to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident. A search is on for a certain person who had close ties to Locario.

Of the six women killed this year, only one case has been solved by the Homicide Bureau. That was the case involving the death of professional cricketer, Rashme Deoajit. A close friend to her was later arrested and charged after being on the run for days.
