First ball of the series, Carty drops a simple catch. So the first person we are firing is the fielding coach, because there was a high performance camp and don’t tell me they weren’t doing catching practice. Second to follow him out the door is the batting coach, because who in their right mind decided to move Shai Hope from opening the batting to number four? His record opening is unmatched, why change it, why change a working formula? It upsets his rhythm, puts him under undue pressure to rescue a poor start or any start for that matter. The next to go is the captain, Daren Sammy, because Amir Jangoo can’t get a game!

I would sack the social media team too because they are bleeding the good times, for example repeating the highlight reels of Jangoo’s century on debut in an ODI played in the Caribbean, against a spin dominated Asian Team. How bloody ironic? If Jangoo starts the next game, it puts unreasonable pressure on him too, because he will be under even more scrutiny for every single shot or thing he does on the field and God forbid if West Indies lose, the narrative from those same coaches, past players and keyboard warriors will be “Oh well Jangoo playing didn’t make a difference”. This is how the West Indies wastes talent and encourages fight down, a brilliant talent like Jangoo can’t win or get a run of games. And yes, Jangoo would’ve taken that catch, the first ball of the series!

It is so sad that players who make the effort, do everything right, achieve excellence, and aren’t rewarded with selection. I feel for Shamar Springer as well, because he should’ve played ahead of Mathew Forde, or even Alzarri Joseph who has just returned from injury. Avenesh Seeteram has to be sacked too, because he is useless behind those fancy computers, what data is he analysing and advising? Because these men aren’t making data driven selections and decisions. Sammy and his team are the kind to still not pick Jangoo and select Ackeem Auguste instead! Unforgivable gentlemen, if Shallow had any gall would sack them all, and let Mariano Browne be the damn coach.
