A man who went to meet a woman on July 17, has ended up dead and his body dumped at the Heights of Guanapo.
Mayfan Claircin, 25, of Eastern Quarry, Laventille, was last seen on July 17 driving a red Mazda 323 bearing registration number PCC 9986.
He was employed with the Ministry of Works and Infrastructure in Arima and was scheduled to report for road patching duties last Friday. He never arrived at work. According to police reports, he had gone to meet a woman in Valencia. No one knows for sure who the woman is and if he really met up with her. One thing is certain – he met his death. His car was found in Tunapuna.
After he did not return home, relatives tried to contact him, but all calls went to voice mail. A report was made to the police and a search was launched. The Hunters Search and Rescue Team was called in and during their search, they found the body on Monday evening.
The operation was headed by Commander Shamsudeen Ayube.
The Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS) was immediately notified. On arrival, the police conducted their investigations. The body was found in a slightly crouched position and was in an advanced state of decomposition. Claircin was clothed in three-quarter jeans, a black top and black-and-blue sneakers, and was wearing a watch on his left hand. Investigators also noted the presence of a wound to the left hip.
The body was removed to the Forensic Science Centre for an autopsy on Tuesday.
According to relatives, cellphone records showed that Claircin’s phone last pinged along Johnson Street, off Quare Road, Valencia, before it was switched off.
Sometime later, the device was powered on twice in Five Rivers, Arouca, where at least one outgoing call was reportedly made before the phone was switched off again.
The Hunters Search and Rescue Team extended its sincere condolences to the family and loved ones of the deceased during this difficult time.
