The second triple murder for 2026 occurred early this morning in Penal.
Around 2.56 am, a woman was in the upstairs bedroom of her house when she was awakened by several gunshots at Sunset Drive, Penal. Upon checking, she went to the western side of the downstairs apartment. She found three men lying motionless on the floor. She called the police who arrived some time later to find three men dead in the apartment with gunshot wounds about their bodies.
They were identified as Jordan Cudjoe Burke, 17, of Sunset Drive, Ishmael Matthews, 22, of Hibiscus Drive, Penal, and Roberto Samuel Carlos, 21, of Corinth Gardens, San Fernando. Burke was lying on the bed, Matthews was on the floor, and Carlos was under the bed.
Police recovered a number of spent shells at the scene. No motive has yet been established, but investigators believe the killings were gang-related.
On February 28, the first triple murder occurred at McShine Lands, Laventille. The victims, who were shot around 1 am, were identified as Jesse Nelson, Keon Alexander, and Dwayne Alexander. All three lived just a short distance from where the shooting occurred.
No one has yet been arrested for this triple murder.
