Marvin – Please look in the Mirror

By PETER GREEN

Marvin Gonzales good oui! A politician who has achieved nothing in his life, wants the Prime Minister to get rid of Minister of Defence, Wayne Sturge, because of his association with murdered businessman, Danny Guerra.

Gonzales calls Sturge a liability in the Cabinet and Government.

Guerra, 50, owner of DG Homes, had previously been detained during the last State of Emergency (SoE) in connection with an alleged plot to assassinate a government minister. He was also reportedly linked to high-powered weapons, the Resistance Gang, and illegal quarrying. Guerra was killed outside his Sangre Grande business on March 13.

At a press conference on March 25, Gonzales highlighted campaign trail footage showing Guerra dancing alongside Sturge, raising concerns about the Minister’s associations. Sturge, as a defence attorney, had also represented Guerra in court.

The day Burkie stormed President’s House in 2017

Hear Gonzales, “The Opposition is calling upon the Prime Minister to immediately remove Wayne Sturge from the Government and Cabinet of Trinidad and Tobago. Based on these reports, and with no action from the Prime Minister, who is chairman of the National Security Council, this poses a serious threat to national security,” Gonzales said.

He added, “Wayne Sturge, as Minister of Defence, has access to confidential intelligence relating to the security of Trinidad and Tobago. Based on these reports, he is an example of a fruit from a poisoned tree, benefiting significantly from what appears to be criminal wrongdoing during the election campaign.”

Well Marvin forgot that Guerra was a financier of the PNM before the 2025 general elections.

Well, it is time to give Gonzales a lesson in history. Poor Marvin, who achieved nothing as a lawyer in the Ministry of Works, Ministry of Public Utilities, Ministry of National Security, and as a Member of Parliament.

Marvin seems to forget that his former political leader Patrick Manning, as Prime Minister, met with “community leaders” including Kerwin “Fresh” Phillip and Mark Guerra (both deceased) at Ambassador Hotel in 2002.

Marvin seems to forget that Manning met with a 21 “community leaders” at Crowne Plaza in 2006 to negotiate peace. They included Sheldon “Crock” Scott and Merlin “Cudjoe” Allamby (both dead). Also during the campaign trail, Guerra walked in support of Manning. in the 2002 election campaign.

Marvin seems to forget that another meeting with the “Community leaders” was held at the Hyatt Hotel that same year.

What about Manning selling his car PAN 1010 to Dole Chadee, a known cocaine trafficker who was later hanged for murder.

Marvin seems to forget Marlene Mc Donald’s close association with “community leader” Cedric “Burkie” Burke. Burke, a reputed gang leader from Sea Lots, was a financier of Mc Donald’s campaign in the general elections for Port-of-Spain South.

So close were they that McDonald even invited Burke to her swearing at President’s House in 2017. That led to then Prime Minister Dr Keith Rowley firing her for this indiscretion.

Poor Marvin! He even ran behind Dr Jack Warner during his campaign trail in 2025 hoping that Warner would be extradited. Poor Marvin. You lost big time. And what made it sad was that Jack Warner treated your so well at the Ministry of Works, although you did nothing legally right.
