Pocket money, lunch, transportation, lessons, uniforms, books and extra curricular activities, the vacation breathing space is over and the financial pressure on parents has returned.
And what happened to the $1,000 schoolbook grant? A single textbook can cost around $300, and children need several. The mathematics simply doesn’t add up.
Now the Ministry wants to introduce an AI aptitude test. My advice is: STOP! Defer it. Give yourselves time to master the technology before using our children as guinea pigs for 2027.
Build more schools. Repair the existing ones. Expand institutions like John Donaldson and give our children practical skills and proper opportunities.
And let us stop the political hypocrisy. In Opposition, they condemned governments for failing to repair schools during the vacation. Now they are doing the same thing.
Meanwhile, crime has reached Woodbrook big time.
Our children deserve better. Parents deserve better.
ENOUGH TALKING. ENOUGH EXPERIMENTING. ENOUGH EXCUSES.
EDUCATION IS TOO IMPORTANT TO BE A POLITICAL EXPERIMENT.
