Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar SC will be in Tobago on Tuesday for two important engagements.

She will officially open the new Tobago Terminal building at the ANR International Airport. Then she will turn the sod to start construction of the 500 million dollar Marriot Hotel at Rocky Bay.

Both engagements will also involve Chief Secretary of the Tobago House of Assembly (THA), Farley Augustine.

The new terminal building which is situated at the end of the runway in Crown Point, is estimated to cost 1.2 billion dollars.

The building was handed over by NIDCO and the Ministry of Works and Infrastructure to the Airports Authority on June 14 this year.

In March 2025, there was a practical opening of this same building by then Prime Minister Dr Keith Rowley, even though the facility was incomplete. Since then NIDCO moved with haste to complete and open it in time for Tobago Carnival later this month.

The Marriott Hotel will include 200 rooms, villas, townhouses, recreational facilities, and green spaces.

The Environmental Management Agency gave approval for this project at the end of April.
