Last Saturday was a day that Team Sunshine will never forget ! The team left its home base in Five Rivers, Arouca at 12:45pm to travel to Marabella to play a 13-table, 131 bullseyes game against its New Haven Street, Marabella host, Heroes & Dauntless. What should have been a normal a one-hour drive took Team Sunshine almost two hours to arrive at the venue due to the end-of-month traffic going through Chaguanas, home to several shopping malls, plazas, and businesses.

Team Sunshine thanked the hosts for their patience and despite the late arrival, the players and supporters were warmly welcomed and treated to plates of a variety of finger foods together with corn soup all of which were welcomed and thoroughly enjoyed by all. At 3:30 pm following a brief team meeting to discuss strategy, the originally scheduled 2pm game got underway.
From the outset, things were not going that well for Team Sunshine. It was so bad that at one time the hosts were ahead by 25 bullseyes. Thanks to Team Sunshine’s resilience, the gap was reduced considerably and the first half ended at 65/50 bullseyes and 26/19 hang jacks, both in favour of Heroes & Dauntless.
Copious quantities of a superb meal of chicken, pork, fish, fried rice and green salad were served and thoroughly enjoyed by all. Before the start of the second half, Team Sunshine held its strategic meeting and it was decided to make several table changes which served to fire up the members who all pledged to do better than they did in the first half. Despite their best efforts however, this was not to be.

Table after table virtually collapsed under the onslaught of the Heroes & Dauntless crew. At the end of it all, with Heroes & Dauntless taking the win by 131/105 bullseyes and 56/38 hang jacks, Team Sunshine conceded that a team which they had previously beaten had the better day last Saturday. It was no surprise that the tally showed Heroes & Dauntless winning all but two of the 13 prizes at stake.
At the end of the game, in true Heroes and Dauntless fashion, all present were treated to some delicious fried fish, not to mention the usual All Fours picong. Team Sunshine thanks Cpl Suzette Ramoutar, Rhonda, and the rest of Heroes & Dauntless team for what was nothing less than a most enjoyable evening of all fours, camaraderie and good old-fashioned banter among friends with not a single dispute throughout the entire time.
