Sticks and Stones

Dear Sir/Madam,

I would like to thank the enterprising and conscientious individual(s) who have been patching holes in El Socorro and Barataria with sticks and stones.  At present, this is Mr. Saddam Hussain’s constituency and he is engaged in some drain cleaning exercises along El Socorro Road, oblivious to the massive potholes, craters and bruises along this road.

Indeed, so bad is it..the relevant persons from all kinds of agencies are cleaning a drain and they are seeing the swimming pool like holes and people are slamming into the craters.   Incidentally, like Boundary Road extension, where  his Umaah brother Dinesh Maharaj represents, Lower Boundary Road is like a road in the Grand Canyon  which can flip a wagon.

What this does, is show the dismal performance of UNC MP’s  in seats which put the UNC into government.  More importantly, it proves the Mayor of Port of Spain’s claim that regional corporations are broke despite collecting some $135 million in property taxes and not refunding the nation.

I remember some years ago, the Mayor of Chaguanas had his pants pulled up by then Minister of LG,  Faris AL Rawi, when he threated to shut down the Chaguanas Borough because he could not pay salaries, but retreated when chastised and found to be lying.

This Corporation is an excellent example of being  without funds for the better part of 15 years as residents of Orchard Boulevard have not had their road fully repaired since the days of Mayor Orlando Nagassar.

Lets see if Ms. Khadija will now “short pants” Mr. Alleyne.  Until then, its sticks and stones for the people.

Did I hear someone say “buyers remorse?”

Linda Capildeo,

St James
