The IT Manager at the Police Complaints Authority (PCA) was shot dead in Charlieville on Wednesday night.
Police have already classified the death as a hit.
The dead man was identified as Sa-id Hamid Khan, 38, of Mohammed Lane, Chaguanas.
According to police reports, Khan was seated inside his Honda Vezel SUV -PEJ 7033 – in the car park of General Accident Insurance Company, when another vehicle pulled up and blocked his path.
A man then exited that vehicle and approached Khan before opening fire, striking him multiple times.
Khan died at the scene. A report was made to the police who arrived within minutes. By that time, the killer got back into his vehicle and fled the scene. Investigators are trying to determine the motive behind the killing and are pursuing leads as they continue efforts to identify the person responsible.
The District Medical Officer visited the scene and ordered the removal of the body to the Forensic Science Centre for an autopsy on Thursday.
Homicide Bureau officers are trying to determine whether Khan’s death was related to his job at the PCA. No one has yet been arrested.
