Many citizens feel they are being squeezed from every direction, property taxes, traffic fines, licence renewals, soaring vehicle maintenance costs, and building materials such as paint costing hundreds of dollars per tin, while salaries and pensions struggle to keep pace.
At the same time, SMEs are under pressure, reducing employment opportunities and slowing economic growth.
Crime cannot be excused, but when economic hardship spreads across young people, women, families, and even the elderly, it becomes clear that job creation and economic opportunity must be at the centre of any long term solution.
A country cannot tax and fine its way to prosperity; it must create conditions for people to work, earn, and succeed.
