CARICOM has now been forced to address an issue through the CCJ that should never have arisen in the first place.
This was never an attack on Dr. Barnett; rather, it was an exposure of an unfair process that needed to be examined.
The importance of this matter is that regional institutions must always uphold fairness, transparency, and due process.
When a process appears unfair, it is the responsibility of those affected to seek answers and ensure that justice prevails.
The strength of CARICOM depends on the confidence of its citizens and leaders in its institutions. Fairness must not only be done but must also be seen to be done.
