Dear Sir/Madam
It was a disturbing and disconcerting surprise to see the appointment of a 10 member board for the State’s National Enterprises Limited (NEL). I have shares in the company and the current share price is cents on the dollar.
The reason for this is that the underlying companies have been making losses for years, partly due to the top heavy management, which have really done nothing to move the said state enterprises to sustainable profits.
It goes without saying that their fees will add to NEL’s losses, but then that does not seem to matter, once they on the Board of Directors fees list.
Whereas, each of the constituent companies – TSTT, Power Gen etc already have a Board in place, I will await the wisdom of the 10 members…and their cost.
Further, maybe its a coincidence, or maybe its a payback, but I am seeing some distinctly failed and rejected politicians who gave yeoman service to the victorious party in the last elections.
This seems like a deja vous: isn’t the UNC the same party that said the PNM was stacking State Boards with hacks and jobs for the boys and girls? Small world indeed.
Wow: the more things, the more they stay the same. Or get worse.
Stay up Trinidad and Tobago.
Linda Capildeo,
St James
