It was one of the most brazen murders to take place near Port-of-Spain.
It occurred in the vicinity of the Food Court at the eastern end of the Queen’s Park Savannah while people were buying food and others exercising.
It also happened near the Ministry of Health headquarters where the victim, Masud Prosper, 49, worked as a driver.

Homicide Bureau officers said Prosper, who lived in Belmont, was seated in a black Lancer when he was shot shortly after arriving in the Savannah to collect his nine-year-old son from football practice. His son witnessed the shooting, eyewitnesses reported.
According to reports, the incident occurred at 5.30 p.m. on Thursday. Eyewitnesses reported hearing multiple gunshots before seeing a vehicle speeding away from the Savannah. Prosper was later discovered inside the vehicle suffering from gunshot wounds to the head and body.
Emergency medical officials responded, but Prosper was pronounced dead at the scene. Prosper worked as a driver with the Ministry of Health. Investigations are ongoing. No motive has yet been established, and no arrests have been made.
The murder toll as of Thursday stood at 120 for the year.
