Camille Robinson-Regis cannot be for real!
I listened to her at the Opposition Press Conference on Thursday where she spoke, of all subjects, that the present Government is doing nothing about housing in Trinidad and Tobago.
This is the same lady who said she did not pass Maths in school, but later became a lawyer. Well her lack of Maths showed up at the press conference as not once, but twice, she said, “when we left office in April 2024……”
To Camille, you were voted out of office in April 2025. Maybe, you are correct…you left office in April 2024.
You, as the Minister of Housing, left the housing sector in the dilapidated state. Camille, the MP for Trincity/Maloney, cannot boast of doing anything for the Maloney Gardens people.
I took a drive along the Churchill Roosevelt Highway outside of the Maloney Housing Estate.

Just look at the buildings. They never had a sprucing up since it was built in the 1980s. The buildings are in a terrible state. As MP for that area, and as Minister of Housing, Camille should have ensured her constituents were far better off.
It was like Dr Keith Rowley, MP for Diego Martin West since 1991, leaving the Western Main Road in a terrible state.
Coming back to Camille. People in Maloney are upset with you as their MP. Despite their pleas over the years, the garbage situation never improved; there are leaks in various buildings; roofs are falling apart, etc.
Yet, you come at a press conference to ask what the three Minister in the Housing Ministry are doing. At least one of them, Phillip Alexander, went to Maloney to see for himself the terrible state of affairs.
Alexander did not stop there.
You, Camille, complained that nothing is done in east Port-of-Spain. Well, east Port-of-Spain has been so for many years and all this time, it was the PNM who held those seats.
If you want to see the state of east Port-of-Spain, just drive along Piccadilly Street and you will see the state of houses. Alexander went to the HDC buildings in east Port-of-Spain, something no PNM Minister had done in years.
Now these are your words – housing projects have stalled. Well, look at the Trestrail Development in D’Abadie. Badly built houses which have to be torn down and rebuilt. That is one which stalled.
The promised lands to former Petrotrin workers were never given out. Now the present Government has cleared the land in South Trinidad for these former workers.
You said when the PNM “left office in 2024”, refurbishment works were in train at Maloney. Where and when?
Even the Maloney Mall was left abandoned.
So instead of ranting and raving, the Housing Development Corporation (HDC) under chairman Feroze Khan, has a plan in place to deal with these eyesores. Stay tuned.
