The politics keep getting to me. All this race talk since Emancipation Day has kept me weary of politicians. I decided to leave it alone.
But I must address a topic which keeps popping up.
Simply put, I feel sorry for Akeliah Glasgow-Warner, the Mayor of the Borough of Diego Martin!
As my rum shop pardna asked me, “where she come from?”

Over the past seven years, Glasgow-Warner has been a councillor, committee chairman, and Vice Chairman of the Diego Martin Regional Corporation. In 2023, she made history by becoming the first female Mayor of the newly created Borough of Diego Martin.
Before April 2025, nobody used to hear from her. She suddenly found her voice after Dr Keith Rowley stepped down as Prime Minister just before the General Elections. Remind you, she had been Mayor of Diego Martin for two years before that and not a word.
All of a sudden, in the last eight months, Glasgow-Warner has jumped out of her shell and attack from Prime Minister down.
Her latest rant came in a video she posted online which went viral a day ago. Imagine the Mayor of Diego Martin, left her busy schedule in the office to go onto the Diego Martin Main Road to show a big hole in the road. She even went on a video shoot with two members of the Municipal Police Unit to stop and block traffic while she recorded her video.

In that video, she was heard pleading for help from Minister of Works and Infrastructure, Jealean John, to come and fix the roads in Diego Martin.
Those roads did not become like that overnight.
Let us focus on the Western Main Road from Glencoe to Carenage. When the elections were over in April 2025, the Western Main Road was in a dilapidated state. No one from the PURE Unit at the Ministry of Works and Transport under Rohan Sinanan, looked after that road.
Who was the Member of Parliament? None other than Dr Keith Rowley.
The same issue affected residents of Diego Martin Central. Who was the MP? Simon de Nobriga, the former chairman of the Diego Martin Regional Corporation.
Things were worse in Diego Martin North East. The MP was Colm Imbert.

Hans Des Vignes took over Diego Martin West…poor fella. De Nobriga and Imbert are now hapless. So when Glasgow-Warner keeps speaking about issues affecting the country, especially the state of Diego Martin roads, please look in the mirror and see which political party you belong to.
I always say give newcomers in politics a chance. But your social media posts over the last eight months, have left a lot to be desired.
I have family and friends in Diego Martin and they all say the same thing. They do not see the councillors they voted for. They cannot reach the Mayor, but they reminded me that Local Elections are due in 2027.
I would keep looking on!
