WPC strangled, beaten, neck punctured

By FRANCIS JOSEPH

Acting Corporal Anusha Eversley, who was found dead on Sunday morning at the San Fernando Municipal Police Headquarters, was strangled, beaten with a blunt object and her neck punctured.

Investigators had originally revealed that she was shot in the neck, but that was not so, according to Commissioner of Police, Allister Guevarro, at a media conference on Monday.

Guevarro also confirmed that police have recovered a total of 38 firearms and 929 rounds of ammunition stolen from the Storm Room at the Municipal Police Station.

Commissioner Guevarro said that three of the six suspects detained on Sunday have since been released from custody pending further investigations. That included the two women and one civilian.

He said police operations were continuing at full pace, with efforts focused on recovering the remaining stolen weapons and ammunition, as well as identifying and apprehending all those responsible for the attack.

A total of 62 guns and 4,000 rounds of ammunition were reportedly stolen in what investigators said was an inside job.

Guevarro said Eversley was strangled, beaten, and punctured with a sharp object. Her injuries were initially believed to have been caused by a gunshot wound to the neck.

Two Municipal Police officers are still in custody.
