New World Order Outside of International Law
By SAM FRIMPONG
In a stunning spectacle of military operations that captured the world’s attention, the United States elite military and intelligence special forces captured the ousted President Nicolas Maduro and his wife, Cilia Flores in less than forty-five minutes on January 3, 2026, and whisked them off to New York on very serious allegations of criminal charges.
It sent geo-political shock waves across Moscow, Bejing and Teheran. With all the propaganda of helping Venezuela and standing on the side of Maduro and “having his back”, Moscow, Beijing, and Iran could do nothing.
The leaders of these countries will have to accept any shift in their oil fortunes and comply with the latest renewal of the Monroe Doctrine.
As Trump continues to flex his military prowess, threatening Greenland, Mexico, Cuba and more, there ought to be no doubt in anyone’s mind that the USA is marshalling its National Security Strategy in a globally coercive and enforcement-oriented manner that defies the rule of law, constitutional safeguards, and international law. Domestically, Trump’s current imbroglio in Chicago and Minneapolis are potentially frightening.
The Other Global Influencer
Approximately two weeks after that successful operation in Caracas, the world’s other powerful player, the Vatican, met with Venezuela’s Maria Corina Machado, the opposition political leader in Rome this week in a private meeting. Immediately after, Machado had an appointment on January 15th in Washington with President Trump and members of the US Senate.
While the Vatican would be pleased with the decline of socialism in Venezuela, powerful nations like China and Russia that are inimical to the Vatican’s global religious and political aims will, sooner or later, be brought to their knees, since there exists an alliance between the Vatican and the USA in their global aspirations.
The US New World Order
Author Juan Manfredi pointed out that Trump’s new world order is taking shape in Venezuela. The attack on Venezuela and the capture of President Nicolás Maduro heralded the decoupling of Trump’s United States from the rules-based international order; and the end of liberal order as a whole.
A new international order is now emerging, one based on the use of force, revisionism and security on the American continent.
Manfredi indicated that there are many keys to understanding the outcomes of the military intervention, and the new order it ushers in.
First, the expanded presidential power. It must be pointed out that the Venezuelan attack cemented the new doctrine of “an imperious president, one who executes orders without waiting for congressional approval, legal validation or media opinion.”
With checks and balances weakened, the second Trump administration is free to present the new order as a question of urgent security: with the US at war against drug trafficking (or migration) and threatened by “new powers” (a euphemism for China), it has no need to respect proper procedures or timelines.
Second, there exists an erosion of the US political and legal system that is undeniable. Again, Manfredi states that “the president has approved an extensive package of regulations that promote emergency powers, a permanent state of crisis, and suppression of political opposition and the judicial system.”
Thus, the attack on Venezuela is yet another milestone in the reconfiguration of the presidency’s relations to the legislative and judicial branches of power.
Third, there is the control of resources. As one can appreciate, it’s all about oil, but for different reasons than in Iraq.
Manfredi goes on to elucidate that, “in a world where globalization has shifted to geo-economics, the United States wants to project its power in international energy markets and regulation.”
Notably, “Venezuela’s infrastructure, ports and minerals are key to making this happen. The US therefore doesn’t just want Venezuelan oil to supply its domestic market – it also wants to impose international prices and dominate supply.
Its new vision aims to align energy sovereignty and technological development with trade and security.”
Furthermore, Pax Silica – the international US-led alliance signed at the end of 2025 to secure supply chains for critical technologies such as semiconductors and AI – ushers in an era of transactional diplomacy: computer chips in exchange for minerals.
For the “new” Venezuela, its oil reserves will allow it to participate in this new power dynamic.”
Venezuela is foreshadowing the new world order that Trump wants to impose. Thus, it aims to deny China and other powers access to key strategic assets in the region, such as military installations, ports, critical minerals and cyber communications networks.
The new security strategy explains Trump’s obsession with Venezuela, in particular. Venezuela has the world’s largest proven oil reserves and a long coastline on the Caribbean Sea, which is a vital sea lane for US goods travelling through the Panama Canal.
As recognized, under years of US sanctions, Venezuela signed several energy and mining deals with China, Iran, and Russia. For Beijing, in particular, Venezuela is both an energy source and a foothold in the hemisphere.
The Trump administration’s National Security Strategy makes clear this is unacceptable to the United States. The attack on Venezuela is not just an intervention in the region: it also reflects the changing times in which we live.
A new order is being born, and both the Vatican and the USA shall be the shapers and arbiters of the destiny of the world.
One the dominant geopolitical and most fearsome and incomparable and unrivalled military and economic power; and the other, the respected moral and geo-political religious power with thousands of years of global experience.
No other nations can defeat this combination.
