Another man has been murdered in Morvant, bringing to four the number killed in that district in the last 72 hours.
The latest person is Nathaniel Lewis, 21, of Second Caledonia, who was at home when gunmen stormed the house and opened fire around 5 a.m. on Thursday.
Police were called to the scene and found Lewis suffering from gunshot injuries. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The body was later removed to the mortuary for a post-mortem. No one was arrested and while no motive was established, police believe his death was gang-related.
On Wednesday morning, police officers found the body of Clarence Thompson, 57, in a bushy area behind his home at Crichlow Trace, Chinapoo. Residents reportedly heard gunshots around 10 p.m. the previous night. Approximately 12 hours later, volunteers from the Hunters Search and Rescue Team directed police to Thompson’s body.
On Tuesday night, the body of Steve Griffith, 62, was discovered along a track in Second Caledonia. Earlier that day, Tylan Hinkson, 19, was shot dead.
Police have stepped up patrols in the Morvant district following rumours that more persons would die. in the latest wave of violence.
On July 18, Khalil Williams, 22, Mikal “Beebo” Campbell, 29, and Selvon Jack, 50, were shot dead at a Unipet Service Station at the corner of the Eastern Main Road and Morvant Old Road.
A few days later, Frankie Bartholomew, also known as “Fishie”, was also murdered.
No arrests have been made in any of these murders.
