$1.7 Million owed – Boycott for Tobago Panorama 2026

It seems that Tobago Panorama for later this month may be off. That is the word of Pan Trinbago President, Beverly Ramsey-Moore, in an interview with the media on Monday.

There is the Tobago House of Assembly Pan Omega carded for October 24 and the Steelband and Powder Parade set for October 31. But if $1.7 million which is owed for prizes for the 2025 Tobago Carnival is not paid, well no roll of the dice.

Ramsey-Moore said the decision was made by the Tobago region of Pan Trinbago, and was fully supported by their colleagues in Trinidad. She said Pan Trinbago is still owed $1.7 million for last year’s Pan Omega and Pan and Powder events.

She said members incurred significant cost mobilizing in preparation for Pan Omega 2026, scheduled for October 24, but will not take the stage with outstanding balances lingering.

In a statement on Sunday, the Tobago Festivals Commission acknowledged its debt to Pan Trinbago and noted discussions have been held with the pan fraternity, the Tobago Unified Calypsonians Organisation, bandleaders and service providers.

The Commission said its payment records show a $1,544,690 disbursement to Pan Trinbago, including $1,081,690 associated with Pan Omega 2025, and payments for other performances and activities. The Commission noted its support to the pan fraternity by providing opportunities to perform at Blue Food Festival, Tobago Heritage Festival and even overseas.

The Commission said it recognized the importance of settling the debt, but noted payments of outstanding balances are contingent on the release of funds.
