Last Sunday Boss Bar travelled west from its eastern home base on First Street, Five Rivers, Arouca to play a 12-table 121 bullseye match against its rival Team Sunshine whose home base, the Palace, is mere metres away. In the first encounter on March 8, Team Sunshine had demolished Boss Bar 101/73 in 10-table 101 bullseyes encounter and no doubt expected a repeat on this occasion.
But this was not to be! Boss Bar’s player’s discipline was commendable from the outset. Their team arrived at the Palace in full force some fifteen minutes before the official start of the 2pm match, while Team Sunshine’s players were strolling into the venue as if nothing mattered. Boss Bar’s pre-match team talk took place while Team Sunshine was still struggling to determine its starting team.
The match started at 2:20 pm and, from the outset, it was clear that it would have been a keen affair as both teams alternated bullseyes and hang jacks leadership in the first half with Boss Bar emerging slightly ahead in both areas – 60/58 bullseyes and 27/24 hang jacks.
Another delicious meal of stew beef, stew fish, mixed provisions, callaloo and fresh green salad was served by Team Sunshine’s caterer, Foodsurgeon, with both teams commenting on the high quality and quantity of the offering.
Following the half-time break, both teams held their strategy meeting and the game resumed with the same vigour as before. However, Boss Bar took a five-match lead in the 90s from which Team Sunshine never recovered, eventually losing to Boss Bar 117/121. However, Team Sunshine was able to eke out success in the hang jacks department 51/48. With each team defeating each other once, a third game to determine the ultimate champion is now on the cards.
Team Sunshine’s loss to Boss Bar was its fourth successive All Fours loss.

Team Sunshine’s next match will be a 12-table 121 bullseyes event at its home base at the Palace on Saturday, June 20 against Square Deal and Friends from Point Fortin. That match starts at 2pm.
