AVENGERS DEMOLISH TEAM SUNSHINE
Last Sunday, Team Sunshine suffered yet another defeat — their third consecutive loss. This latest setback came at the hands of Avengers, one of the better teams on the East/West Corridor, during a 12-table, 121-bullseyes match played at Chico’s Sliced Pizza on La Horquetta Boulevard, La Horquetta. The game began promptly at the scheduled 2 p.m. start after both teams had discussions with their players regarding strategy.
The first half was truly a ding-dong affair, with both teams alternating the lead in bullseyes and hang jacks. It was therefore no surprise that the first half ended with Avengers leading 60/51 in bullseyes, while both teams were tied 12/12 in hang jacks.
Lunch was then served and will long be remembered, both for its quality and quantity, as one of the best meals ever provided at any All Fours competition. The menu included stewed fish, stewed chicken, callaloo, pigeon peas, macaroni pie, macaroni salad and plantain.
It was such an enjoyable meal that, prior to the start of the second half, both teams expressed their gratitude to Chico’s spouse and staff for their excellent culinary skills.
Following the usual team talks, both sides resumed “the battle” in the second half. However, in what has now become the norm, Team Sunshine floundered badly after the interval and, despite several changes, there was no stopping the Avengers.
When the game finally ended at 8 p.m., there was a sigh of relief from the Team Sunshine players. The final scores were 121/86 in bullseyes and 30/21 in hang jacks, both in favour of Avengers, who also captured all the prizes at stake except one.
It is important to note that there was not a single issue for either captain to resolve throughout the evening. The entire event was filled with an abundance of love, laughter and picong.
Full credit must be given to retired Inspector Bruno and his team, led by Keston, for a wonderful evening which was further enhanced by host Chico, his spouse and staff, to all of whom Team Sunshine extends its sincere thanks and appreciation.
