Media houses must face a hard truth: when citizens can turn on the television and receive clear, immediate, and visual reporting of the day’s events, or scroll through social platforms for real time video updates, the traditional newspaper model, slow, text heavy, and often behind a paywall, becomes increasingly irrelevant; the public is not abandoning news, they are abandoning outdated delivery, and unless newspapers urgently reinvent themselves into fast, digital first, video driven platforms that meet people where they are, they will continue to lose audience, advertising revenue, and ultimately their place in national discourse, because in today’s world the competition is not just other newspapers, it is every screen in every home delivering news instantly, visually, and for free.
