Is the Government playing a very different game with ZOSO?
I may be wrong, but could this be a form of reverse psychology?
Start ZOSO in Government-held constituencies and leave PNM-held areas outside the initial programme. Then wait for residents in those communities to say: “What about us? We want ZOSO too.”
The Government’s answer can then be simple: “If you want it, we will provide it.”
What a turnaround.
The Government is no longer seen as imposing ZOSO on opposition constituencies. Instead, citizens themselves are demanding it. The political pressure has effectively been reversed.
If that is the strategy, it is certainly worth watching.
But there is a much bigger issue here: criminals do not check political boundaries before committing crimes. Why should protection of citizens be determined by them?
This is Trinidad and Tobago, not PNM Trinidad or UNC Trinidad.
Every citizen deserves the same protection, regardless of the political colour of the constituency in which they live.
