Our Dams are Adequate?

Our dams are adequate? When was the last time any of our dams were dredged?

Possibly 50 years ago. We may have 20–30 feet of accumulated silt in some of our dams. In Tobago, Hillsborough Reservoir even has what appears to be an island growing in it.

We have WASA engineers and technical personnel who should be addressing these issues. Dredging a reservoir is not rocket science. Yes, there are environmental considerations, but these can be properly managed.

Use modern technology, including drones and sonar surveys, to determine exactly how much silt has accumulated and how much storage capacity we have lost.

Before we spend billions building new water infrastructure, shouldn’t we first restore the capacity of the reservoirs we already have?

T&T needs water security, not excuses.
