The Oval Needs To Park Its Members – Not Their Cars On The Road

It is high time the management of the Queen’s Park Cricket Club (The Oval) faced a simple reality: a premier club with a substantial membership cannot continue expecting members to park $400,000 and $500,000 vehicles on public roads because there is insufficient secure parking.

Members pay to belong to a prestigious institution. They should not have to worry about leaving expensive vehicles exposed on the street while enjoying the Club.

The solution is obvious: BUILD A MODERN MULTI-STOREY CAR PARK.

This is not an extravagant luxury. It is basic infrastructure for a major club operating in the heart of Port of Spain, where parking is increasingly difficult and security is a genuine concern.

If land is limited, build upwards. A properly designed multi-storey facility could provide secure parking for members, improve traffic flow and enhance the value of the Club’s property.

The Oval has been an important institution in Trinidad and Tobago for generations. Its parking facilities should reflect the standards expected of a first-class club in the 21st century.

Members should be parking inside the Club — NOT lining the streets outside it.
