Prevention Detention Orders for Hadeeds, Star Sabga

By FRANCIS JOSEPH

The Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS) has obtained Preventive Detention Orders (PDO) businessman Dominic Hadeed, 52, his wife Genevieve, 42, and businesswoman, Star Sabga, 69, all of Westmoorings.

These Orders were granted pursuant to the Emergency Powers Regulations and were executed strictly in accordance with the law and in the presence of their representative Attorneys-at-Law, the TTPS stated in a media release on Saturday afternoon.

The release stated, “The individuals named in the Orders are currently assisting with the ongoing investigative process and have been transferred into the custody of the Trinidad and Tobago Prisons Service. They are currently housed at their stipulated places of detention.

“The TTPS emphasises that all investigative steps continue to be undertaken with professionalism, impartiality, and full respect for the legal and reputational rights of all persons.

“As the matter remains active, no further information can be disclosed at this time. The TTPS will continue to provide updates as appropriate and remains committed to upholding the rule of law.”

Earlier on Saturday, an application was made to the High Court for a writ of habeas corpus. But Justice Frank Seepersad did not grant it.

Instead he gave Commissioner of Police, Allister Guevarro, until 4 pm on Saturday to determine whether the Hadeeds were under a PDO.

The matter was adjourned to Monday at 9 am.
