…….”Confirmed by Police Station Diary Extract”

These visits, supervised by the police, took place on August 1 and  August 17.

Regent Towers Westmoorings

According to the today’s Trinidad Guardian under the headline “Star seeks Urgent Care”, one of her attorneys Carlon Mc Leod, submitted letters dated dated July 29, July 30 and August 10, requesting permission from Commissioner of Police, Allister Guevarro, for Sabga to be examined by her physician, Dr Jacqueline Pereira-Sabga. The initial request asked that the doctor be allowed to visit at a time convenient to the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS).

As far as the article read, there has been no response from the Commissioner of Police.

But according to a letter dated August 1 from attorney Mc Leod to one of the Commissioner’s attorneys, “I write to thank you for permitting Dr Jacqueline Perreira Sabga to attend to our client today in satisfaction of the terms of the order of Mr Justice Paul therein. We were informed that Dr Jacqueline Perreira Sabga has just reported that she attended upon our client with the expressed permission of the two police officers stationed at our client’s home who recorded her attendance and entry. She has also informed us that with our client’s consent the female police officer stationed at our client’s home was physically present within ear and eye shot for the entirety of the examination and that she had no communication with our client other than the said female police officer.”

There was another letter dated August 16. It stated, “Further to your email of Friday the 14th, Dr Jacqueline Perreira Sabga will attend tomorrow – August 17th at 4.30 pm.

On August 17, Dr Sabga arrived at Regent Towers at 4.03 pm, according to the extracts of the police station diary for that date.

The extract stated in part, “No 21425 WPC Ramlogan notes that on today’s date Dr Jacqueline Perreira-Sabga, aged 54, arrived at apartment 522 Regents Towers and in the presence of both officers, No 21425 WPC Ramlogan and No 6889 PC Campbell, indicated her services was (were) requested by attorney at law Faris Al Rawi to check the vitals of detainee Star Sabga. The aforementioned officers allowed Dr Jacqueline Perriera Sabga to perform her duty and enter apartment 522 Regent Towers as instructed by 16641 Sgt Rajkumar.”

At 4.42 pm, the police diary extract continued, “No 21425 WPC Ramlogan checked apartment 522 Regent Towers and found detainee Star Sabga safely secured therein within no unauthorized personnel.”

Star Sabga was detained on June 25 under a Preventive Detention Order signed by Minister of Homeland Security, Roger Alexander.

Justice Vigel Paul

Her detention followed the leak of a 15-minute audio recording of a June 11 conversation between Sabga and her niece, businesswoman Genevieve Hadeed. In the recording, the two women discussed what they believed was Government corruption and made remarks about the country’s political leadership. The State has alleged that portions of the conversation point to a conspiracy to assassinate Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar and other senior Government officials, allegations both women have denied.

Star Sabga was released by Justice Paul on July 27 and placed under house arrest.
