Guns next time?

What we witnessed on that street should frighten every citizen of this country.

Children fighting with such rage in public is bad enough, but when adults nearby appear helpless,, indifferent or incapable of protecting them, it sends an even darker message.

Today it is fists, kicks and a child lying helpless on the ground while a vehicle moves toward him. Tomorrow, if we continue normalising violence and lawlessness, it may very well be guns in the hands of these same youths settling disputes in the streets.

A society that loses respect for human life at a young age is heading toward a very dangerous place.

This is no longer just “school fighting.” It is a warning sign for the future of Trinidad and Tobago. God help us.
