One man was killed while two others escaped during a gun battle with Police in Cascade on Sunday night.
The dead man has not yet been identified, but he is believed to be shooter with a gang. The peaceful Cascade area was shaken by the sound of gunfire.
According to reports, sometime round 10 p.m., officers attached to the Guard and Emergency Branch (GEB) were on patrol in the vicinity of Spanish Villas along Hololo Mountain Road when they reportedly came under fire from men in a car.
Police returned fire, resulting in an exchange of gunfire.
Following the shooting, one man was found wounded. He was transported to the Port of Spain General Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Two other suspects fled the scene and escaped into the bushes. It was not scertained if any of the escapees was shot.
Additional police units responded and conducted a search of the area, but up to late Sunday night the suspects remained at large.
