A Preventive Detention Order (PDO) signed five months ago against Medz Boss, has been revoked.Real name Joseph Ollivierre, the PDO against the Trinibad artiste, was revoked by Minister of Homeland Security, Roger Alexander, five months after the 7-associated artiste was detained under emergency powers.A legal notice published in the Trinidad and Tobago Gazette confirmed that Ollivierre was placed under a detention order on March 19, and that Alexander revoked the order on August 24.The Gazetted order identified Ollivierre as being of Third Street, Beetham Gardens, and stated that he was to be detained at the Eastern Correctional Rehabilitation Centre or another location designated by the Minister.
Authorities had alleged that Ollivierre was the head of an organised criminal group linked to the 7 and that the group was connected to serious criminal activity, including drug trafficking, firearm offences and armed robberies.Authorities also alleged that the group was planning violent reprisal attacks and represented an imminent threat to public safety.Those allegations have not been established as criminal convictions against Ollivierre.The latest Gazette notice does not state why Alexander decided to revoke the PDO. It simply records that, under paragraph 9 of the Emergency Powers Regulations, the Minister has the power to revoke a detention order at any time and that Alexander exercised that power in Ollivierre’s case.
Medz Boss had previously faced gang-related charges. In 2024, he was charged under the Anti-Gang Act with being a gang member and professing to be a gang member. He was granted bail.
