…….Woman also wounded in early morning attack

A two year-old child was among three persons shot dead on Thursday morning along the St Francois Valley Road, Rifle Hill, Belmont.
The other two victims were identified as Akiel Caffie, alias “Fats” and Anthony Wilson, known as “Monster”. The identity of the child remains unknown, while a woman was injured and rushed to the Port-of-Spain General Hospital.
According to reports, the four persons were travelling in a silver Tiida when gunmen opened fire on them using high-powered weapons.
Caffie and Wilson tried to escape but they fell on the road way and died. A report was made and officers from the Belmont Police Station, Inter-Agency Task Force, and Homicide Bureau Region One, are on the scene.
Investigators are awaiting the arrival of the District Medical Officer before moving the bodies to the Port-of-Spain mortuary. Preliminary reports revealed that one of the occupants of the Tiida was really the target of the gunmen. Investigators revealed this attack was gang-related. No one has been held.
These killings took the murder toll for the year to 132.
