The Script Behind the Testimony

By Peter Green

What took place at the Public Administration and Appropriations Committee was not accountability. It was political scripting dressed up as oversight.

Former Health Minister Terrence Deyalsingh’s statement was not left as his own. The evidence, seen in the tracked changes and screenshots, shows that his witness statement was altered by PNM Senator Faris Al-Rawi and PNM Senator Janelle John-Bates. That is not a small procedural issue. That strikes at the heart of parliamentary integrity.

When a witness statement is being shaped by political figures, and especially by people tied to the very process meant to examine the matter fairly, the public is no longer watching truth unfold. They are watching a performance.

Do not take anybody’s word for it. Look at the screenshots. See the edits. See the link. The evidence is there in black and white.

If hearings at the Public Administration and Appropriations Committee can be managed from behind the scenes, then oversight is no longer oversight. It becomes protection, theatre, and damage control. And that should alarm every citizen who still expects Parliament to serve the people, not the political script.
